Since 2005, POLYVA focuses on Overall solution for water-soluble film packaging.
While plastic packaging has brought convenience to modern life, the problem of “white pollution” has become increasingly severe. The question is—how can we maintain packaging performance while achieving environmental degradability? The answer lies in an innovative material that combines technology with sustainability: PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) water-soluble film.
With its excellent biodegradability, solubility, and mechanical strength, PVA water-soluble film has been widely adopted in developed regions such as Europe, the United States, and Japan, across industries like home care, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and food packaging. It is now emerging as a leading direction in green packaging.
Core Formula of PVA Water-Soluble Film
PVA serves as the primary raw material, accounting for approximately 75% of the composition. By controlling the degree of hydrolysis and polymerization, manufacturers can fine-tune its dissolution performance.
Starch is added to enhance hydrophilicity and promote the diffusion of water molecules.
In addition, eco-friendly additives such as plasticizers, surfactants, anti-stick agents, and release agents are incorporated to give the film superior flexibility and stability.
This scientifically designed formulation enables PVA film to dissolve completely in water after use—leaving no plastic residue behind. It represents a truly green and sustainable packaging solution.
Two Main Film-Making Processes: Wet Casting and Dry Extrusion
Solution Casting (Wet Method):
PVA is dissolved, coated, and dried to form a film, resulting in high transparency and dimensional accuracy. However, this process requires more energy and a longer production cycle.
Melt Extrusion (Dry Method):
PVA is granulated, extruded, blown, and modified for continuous production. This method is more efficient but requires precise control of processing parameters.
POLYVA’s Technological Breakthroughs
As one of China’s leading producers of PVA water-soluble films, POLYVA has continuously optimized both solution casting and melt extrusion technologies.
Through innovations in energy-efficient drying, film thickness stability, and adjustable dissolution rates, POLYVA has achieved remarkable breakthroughs.
The company’s self-developed high-performance PVA film production equipment enables greater efficiency and enhanced film quality, offering customers a one-stop solution from formula customization to finished films.
A Greener Future Starts with a Single Film
With the growing global demand for eco-friendly and biodegradable materials, the potential applications of PVA water-soluble film are expanding rapidly—from laundry pods and agrochemical packaging to medical bags and industrial cleaning films.
This material is gradually replacing traditional plastic packaging, paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
POLYVA is committed to driving technological innovation and championing green materials as its core competitiveness—helping global customers move toward a low-carbon, sustainable packaging era.
